Leyburn Town Council is reaching out to the local community- residents, groups and organisations to improve road safety in Leyburn.
With sufficient community involvement we can work together to form a Community Speedwatch group making road safety policing more efficient.
If you would be interested in supporting forming a Community Speedwatch group or leading an initiative to educate people about road safety please contact the Clerk of the Council on Clerk@leyburntowncouncil.gov.uk
Why not ask all residents to contribute to speed cameras… we are new residents to Cliff Drive and using the crossing near the garden centre you take your life in your own hands… cars have driven through with no attempt to stop even when I’ve been mid crossing. The lighting on the crossing is terrible to be fair so pedestrians are not seen till late. However, everyone, and mainly locals, pulling out of Middleham road towards Harmby, seem to think it’s an open speed limit and are doing well over the 30 limit as they approach the crossing.. I’ve seen the occasional police speed camera but they stand in plain sight, visible from right up the road, so I’d be very surprised if they ever catch anyone.
