Leyburn, North Yorkshire – A new Changing Places toilet will officially open tomorrow, Thursday 17th April 2025, marking a major step forward in improving accessibility for residents and visitors with complex care needs.
Changing Places toilets are specially designed to support people with profound and multiple learning disabilities or serious physical impairments, such as spinal injuries, muscular dystrophy, or multiple sclerosis. These facilities enable individuals to shop, attend appointments, enjoy community life, and travel—activities that many take for granted.
The Leyburn Changing Places facility includes a peninsular WC, full room-cover ceiling track hoist, height-adjustable adult-sized changing bench, shower, height-adjustable washbasin, and a privacy screen—all within a spacious 12m² room. It has been installed as part of our wider commitment to make Leyburn an inclusive and accessible place for all.
