Residents and visitors are advised that a temporary bus timetable has been introduced following the closure of Middleham Bridge, which has disrupted bus services between Middleham and Leyburn.
North Yorkshire Council has been working with local bus operator Hodgsons to restore connections between the two communities. Under the temporary arrangements, buses will continue to operate from Masham to Middleham via their normal route before travelling onwards to Leyburn via Hallwith Road and the A684. Return journeys will follow the same diversion route.
To accommodate the diversion and turning requirements in Middleham, the service will be operated using smaller buses than usual. North Yorkshire Council has advised that, with the busy summer season now ending, it is hoped passenger capacity will be sufficient.
As the volume of traffic using the diversion route is currently unknown, delays may occasionally occur. The timetable will be monitored and further adjustments may be made if necessary.
Leyburn Town Council encourages residents to familiarise themselves with the temporary timetable and allow extra time for journeys where possible.
