Tour of Britain 2026 Comes to Leyburn

Leyburn is delighted to welcome the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men 2026 on Saturday 5 September, when our historic market town will host the exciting finish of Stage 4 of Britain's premier professional cycle race.

As we celebrate this prestigious sporting event, residents and visitors alike can look forward to an unforgettable day of world-class cycling, community spirit and Yorkshire hospitality. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales, Leyburn provides the perfect setting to showcase both elite sport and the beauty of our region.

The Tour of Britain attracts some of the world's leading professional riders and teams, bringing thrilling competition and a vibrant atmosphere to every host town. Whether you are a dedicated cycling fan, a local resident, or a visitor discovering Leyburn for the first time, there will be plenty to enjoy throughout the day.

 

Stage Four: Helmsley to Leyburn

Stage Four of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men 2026 will take riders from Helmsley to Leyburn, crossing some of North Yorkshire's most spectacular landscapes. Travelling from the North York Moors into the Yorkshire Dales, the penultimate stage is expected to provide one of the toughest and most decisive challenges of the race.

Visitor Parking Information

Resident Access Passes

Residents requiring vehicle access to properties located within the road closure areas will need a Resident Access Pass.

Please note that Resident Access Passes will only be issued to properties located within the affected areas identified on the official Resident Access Plan provided by North Yorkshire Council (View the Access Plan PDF). 

Leyburn Resident Access Plan

Passes can be obtained from the Leyburn Town Council Office between 9am and 1pm. When applying, residents will need to:

• Provide proof of their residential address within an eligible property located in the affected area.
• Present a form of identification showing their address.
• Provide the registration number and details of the vehicle requiring access.

Resident Access Passes must be displayed and shown to event stewards on request. Please note that possession of a pass does not guarantee unrestricted access at all times, as access will remain subject to event safety requirements, steward instructions and road closure restrictions.

 

Information Point in the Market Place

Council representatives will be available in the Market Place on Friday 4 September between 3.30pm and 6.00pm.

Residents are encouraged to visit if they:

• Need to collect a Resident Access Pass.
• Are unsure whether their property qualifies for a pass.
• Require clarification on access arrangements.
• Need information about resident parking locations.
• Have questions regarding road closures or vehicle movements during the event.

Resident Parking

Residents are strongly encouraged to plan ahead if they expect to need their vehicle during the event.

Dedicated resident parking will be available at:

• Golden Lion Car Park (limited spaces available)
• Grove Square
• The Wensleydale School

Spaces are limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis. Residents are encouraged to relocate vehicles before road closures come into effect where possible.
